I have had a great few months of training and race season is almost upon me! I have come out to Oz for three weeks to get some training in and prepare for the first World Series race of the year in Sydney. Prior to leaving Australia I had a few days in London. With 2012 being a home Olympics there is a huge amount of media attention and I had a few sponsor commitments and press stuff to do before I disappeared to the other side of the world for two months . In London I had a fun day with Asics doing a photo shoot. Having my picture taken is not my favourite thing to do but I enjoyed this one, I had my hair and makeup done and I was photographed in a Victorian style locker room, a bit of a different kind of day to normal. Then it was off to a Q and A session at Jones Lang LaSalle. They have sponsored me since 2006 so it has been great to build up a relationship with them over a number of years. I had an enjoyable evening with lots of good questions, and some weird ones! I also spent another day with sponsor Triple Dry as they are producing a triathlon guide for the upcoming race season. It was a busy but productive few days and it was then brilliant to get stuck into training when we arrived in Australia, having been delivered safely by BA.

The World Triathlon Series is not a focus for me this year, my goal is the Olympic games in August, but the best preparation for me is to race the best triathletes in the world and the most competitive fields.

I love training out in Australia, I have been here a number of times and when I get here I slip straight into a good training routine. Life starts early in Australia and quite often we are out riding the bikes by 5.30 in the morning, it takes a bit of getting used to but it helps to avoid he heat later in the day and also dodge the traffic. There is a great park to run in too, I haven't run into any scary wildlife yet on my runs.

After Australia we are heading to San Diego for the next round of the World Champs Series. This makes it a long trip away from home, about 2 months. I do miss home when I'm away but feel this is the best start to the year getting some good races in and blocks of good training. I use Skype a lot to keep in touch with family and friends; I wish my dog Barney could get on there, I miss him !
